Genesis 1:26-28
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”
Matthew 28:19
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
1. God designed us for production
God called Adam and Eve to be fruitful and multiply. In the New Testament Jesus is calling us to the same goal, make disciples.
We should never prioritize being happy in our marriages over making followers of Christ
2. Producing things is not always easy or comfortable.
Matt 25:24 “Then the man who had received one bag of gold came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’
Fulfilling the the design God placed on marriage is not always easy. If happiness is the main objective we can miss God’s will for our lives. Fear can keep us from making disciples.
2 Timothy 2:3-4 Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4 No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer.
3. We have to put first things first.
Matt 6:32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
If we commit to pulling together we will fight less about the insignificant things in life. Fighting together to accomplish God’s will causes us to prioritize our time, resources and talent.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
