2 Timothy 1:5-8
I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God.
1. Remember your gift
God has gifted you! He has given you wonderful abilities and talents to advance the Kingdom of God. Remember that when there is a gift given it is our responsibility to use it.
2. The gift can be the scary part.
Paul was encouraging Timothy because he knew the future would be difficult. It was the same future that Timothy would be using the gift Paul had encouraged him to fan.
3. It is our responsibility to grow it.
Overcoming fear starts in your head.
Surround yourself with scripture and encouraging people.
